So two weeks ago I had a baby. It was not on Wed. but none the less since I am on maternity leave and can not paint the walls yet again I have been on an organizing and take things to Goodwill kick. It started with maternity clothes and I am finding just a ton of stuff that I still can not believe I have after all this time.
So in my organizing mode I have been able to plan a little ahead and get some home cooked dinners together each night. So my Works for Me Wednesday helpful hint is planning ahead with some cooked beef you keep in the fridge. Hubby first started it a week ago or so and I remember my dad doing it when I was a kid. You basically buy 3-4 pounds of whatever ground beef grade you like and cook it all at once with some salt and pepper and store it in some tupperware in the fridge. Then when you might be scrambling to come up with a dinner any evening you have half your work done already.
This same concept could work with chicken too. So far we have had stroganoff, spaghetti, and tonight some goulash all with this cooked ahead meat.

Life has definately changed since the addition of little K. First thing is I have to send out a public huge THANK YOU to my MIL for coming over every morning since little K was born to give me two free arms and some time to take a shower and get some dishes & laundry going. She also has given my kids a break from me with a Grandma day which everyone needs 🙂 Me for a nap and my kids for some time out of the house. Grandma’s are great!
I have not really left the house since the birth of little K. My hour trip last night to Target by myself was pretty exciting. Today I got up some more courage to take J to kindergarten by myself with Z and little K in tow. I worried about little K not getting fed on time before going in the car and crying all the way but I timed it pretty good. I even managed to wait in the line to do to the more chaotic school pick up. I feel like I am starting to get into a little groove with 3 kids. I still have a ton to figure out but I am sure every day will get a little easier.
I am so grateful for all I have been blessed with, especially my 3 beautiful children.
Miss Kaitlyn Olivia. 7lbs 7oz. Born Sunday, Feb. 10th at 12pm. She is beautiful and healthy. Her big brothers, dad and I are so in love with her.
So I ended up in L&D triage today because I had pains so bad from contractions that I thought that this was finally it. Hubby had to race home from working in Holland, grandma had to hurry over to watch the kiddos, I had to still pack my bag and in the meantime I thought my contractions might rip my side out. Going into labor naturally is for the birds! I have been induced both other times and I totally prefer a nice planned, controlled induction complete with epidural.
So hubby made it home and off we went to the hospital triage. They hooked me up to the monitors and pretty much the contractions lessened in pain. After about an hour and a half they sent me home. On top of that the nurse tried to tell me that my doctor could not induce me on Sunday like I had originally had planned out with her. I was in shock and then I was pissed. I felt stupid and like a burden on everyone.
I do not want to go through another week of this. Call it selfish or whatever but when I am carrying around extra amnio fluid and am the size of the house, going into labor every evening and now during the day I have had enough. We know she is big enough to to do great outside the womb, I am 9 days from my due date, my doctor is going on vacation the week I am due, and I am so ready.
Thank goodness my doctor called me once I got home from the hospital to help get me out of my bad mood. I am scheduled to go in on Sunday and she thinks because of all the extra fluid my uterus is fizzling out the contractions because it has to work so much harder.
So this is my last post as a pregnant mommy. I will be writing as a skinnier mom with a newborn sometime next week to share my birth story. Wish me luck.
Went to the doctor today and with the flu going through my house she really is suggesting I get a flu shot at the hospital. Knock on wood, I have not gotten it so far. I do fear that if I go into labor over the weekend that I am going to have to get someone to scour my house with bleach before I get home to kill all the germs.
I am still really 19 days away from my due date so not sure if I will go early or end up being induced next weekend. My doctor would really like me to go natural and will see how I am doing at my next Wed. appointment before letting me induce. She stripped my membranes today which is supposed to get things going but has never worked in the past. Who knows.
So I sit here with a sick family, snowed in my home with the past few days of snowy weather and wait. Although I plan to get out this weekend to a movie and a relaxing pedicure.
